There must have been times that you were so angry when you have to wait a whole week to play some games of golf. And those games are interrupted by a rain. Under that kind of circumstance, most people would just give up and step back inside. But playing golf under the rain is a great feeling that you should experience sometimes. It is absolutely OK for your tools (clubs and clothes) to get wet. The only thing that you should be worried about is your electronic devices. Your golf rangefinder is one of those things you need to be mindful about when playing golf under a rain. So, should you buy a waterproof rangefinder?
It will cost you more
Golfing is a sport that requires you to have a high level of commitment to the tools. There are a lot of things that you have to spend on and your rangefinder is worth a large portion of what you have spent. For that reason, determine beforehand if you would really need a rangefinder that is water proof. It means that you need to ask yourself that does it rain frequently where you play golf. Do you have your golf cart and are you willing to play in the rain? If all the answers are yes, then you should buy a waterproof model.
On the other hand, if you are unlikely to be playing when it’s rainy, purchase one that is not waterproof since it will save you a lot of money and that amount of money can even offer you one with higher quality.
There are still other ways
Even when you are committed to play under the wet and damp weather, there are still other ways of preventing your equipment from getting wet. Just like your phone, you can simply put your best golf rangefinder in your golf cart (every car should have a small locker for you to store stuff like sunscreen or your phone). And whenever you need to use your rangefinder or phone, you can get on the cart and use it.
It is advised that you check the weather forecast beforehand and plan your schedule. If you are not willing to play under the rain, then don’t play on the days that are forecasted to be rainy. If you are still able to play when it rains lightly, prepare some waterproof plastic bags with you to store your electronic devices. It’s not really that hard to play when it rains as long as you are willing to do so.
You need to be able to use it
Buying a waterproof rangefinder means that you should be able to use it when it rains (obviously). Even the best golf rangefinder will have problems with shooting the laser beam if there are too many raindrops. So when it rains, your waterproof rangefinder should still be able to light up your target. The screen of your rangefinder should still be clear to see what’s being displayed. It should also be resistant to shock. Most importantly, when it is submerged in water, it should still be working. You should test all of these features before actually buying the product.
